In March 2024, out of the blue, a friend called and invited me to join the RAGNAR Road New England Relay race in May of the same year. His buddy had a few teammates drop out and needed replacements on short notice, offering me a free spot in the event. Knowing little about the RAGNAR Road Race, I couldn’t resist such an opportunity.
So, I enthusiastically said, ‘SURE, why not!’
The RAGNAR Road New England Relay is no ordinary race—it spans 200 miles from Groton, CT, through Rhode Island, and finishes in Quincy, MA. As part of a six-person team, each of us tackled approximately 30-35 miles over the course of 29 hours. It was a daunting challenge but one that promised adventure and camaraderie.
For someone accustomed to solo races, the team dynamic was refreshing. We transformed our rented van into a mobile basecamp, adorned with personal touches that reflected our team spirit. Along the route, we indulged in cake, donuts, and other treats, ensuring there was never a dull moment.
The experience was not just about running; it was about forging bonds with teammates, sharing laughter, and overcoming physical and mental barriers together. As we crossed the finish line, exhausted yet exhilarated, I knew this race had created memories to last a lifetime.
Participating in the RAGNAR Relay Series was a unique adventure that I’ll cherish. It ignited a passion for team-based endurance events, and I look forward to future challenges with enthusiasm.
